Southeast Nebraska CASA is deeply troubled by the events of the past several days. Our mission is centered around advocacy and we cannot stay silent during this time. We have a special obligation to help be a voice in creating just, equitable, and accessible systems and communities.
It is normal to not know what to do, but doing nothing is not the answer. Throughout the next several weeks, our staff will be working to educate ourselves on the systemic inequities that have been in place for centuries that impact access to the criminal justice system, health care and other services.
As we work together, we will post educational resources that help us learn how to improve our relationship and understanding with the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Community.
